Providence Equity Partners L.L.C. (“Providence”), a specialist private equity firm focused on media, communications, and education, today announced that it has made a significant investment in SCG, a leading UK provider of communications, connectivity and IT services for small and medium-sized businesses (“SMEs”).

SCG supports approximately 35,000 businesses across the UK through an integrated technology offering spanning mobile, broadband, cloud communications, IT services and cyber security. The company serves organisations across a broad range of sectors, including healthcare, education, professional services, hospitality and construction, helping customers manage mission-critical communications and technology through a single trusted partner.

SCG has grown through a combination of strong organic growth and M&A. The investment from Providence will continue to support SCG’s ongoing disciplined acquisition strategy.

Providence has a demonstrated track record of supporting growth businesses, including across the UK. Combined with its software-led expansion in the Healthcare and Education sectors, SCG is well positioned to accelerate growth, strengthening its status as a managed service provider of choice for the 35,000 businesses it supports.

SCG has built a reputation for combining high-quality customer service with sector-specific expertise. Its proprietary technology platforms, including Surgery Connect for GP practices and Evonex for SMEs and schools, complement a broader portfolio of connectivity and managed IT services tailored to the evolving needs of UK businesses. As AI adoption accelerates, it will drive greater demand for strategic communications while enhancing SCG’s proprietary solutions through AI-enabled capabilities.

Following completion of the transaction, Daryl Pile will continue as Chief Executive Officer and founder Paul Bradford will assume the role of President and Board Member. The management team will also reinvest alongside Providence, reflecting their confidence in the business and its long-term growth strategy.

Michaël Vervisch, Managing Director at Providence, said: “We believe SCG has established itself as a trusted IT and communications partner to thousands of UK SMEs through their customer service, deep sector expertise and mission-critical communications infrastructure. As SMEs increasingly look for reliable experts with a comprehensive offering to manage their communications and technology needs, we expect demand for integrated connectivity, cloud communications and managed IT services to continue to grow. We look forward to supporting Daryl and the wider management team in the months and years ahead.”

Daryl Pile, Chief Executive Officer of SCG, said: “This is an exciting milestone for SCG. We’ve spent decades building trusted relationships with our customers by helping them navigate changes in technology while delivering the service and reliability they depend upon every day. We’re excited to work with Providence as we continue to invest in our people, our technology and the customers we serve.”

Paul Bradford, President of SCG, said: “I’m incredibly proud of what the team has built. SCG has always been focused on helping customers adapt as technology evolves while maintaining exceptional service. I’m delighted to remain actively involved within the business and will support the next stage of its growth alongside Providence and the management team.”

Ares Credit funds will remain as debt financing partners to SCG having supported the business since 2018. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals. Providence’s financial adviser was Raymond James and its legal advisers were White and Case (M&A) and A&O Shearman (financing). SCG was supported in this transaction by Houlihan Lokey as financial adviser and Osborne Clarke as legal adviser.
